Part 1: Site Information I visited PBS Utah, the PBS affiliate for the State of Utah, which is licensed to the University of Utah. Billing itself as Utah's storyteller, the station produces local programming and carries national content on four channels. The mission of PBS Utah includes producing quality programming that reaches people of all ages into every corner of the state across devices through four channels. This mission is based on a set of values that hold the station to high standards of integrity and fairness. PBS Utah seeks to provide an independent voice that can educate its viewers of all ages. Part 2: Observation I observed the PBS Utah home page on April 16, 2021. Description Utah's only PBS station, PBS Utah began as KUED in 1958 and rebranded in 2019. In 2020, the non-profit station reached 69% of Utah TV households, held 242 community events, and carried locally and nationally-produced programming that included included public affairs, politics, civil righ

Part 1: Site Information I visited the National Baseball Hall of Fame's website. This organization is dedicated to preserving and telling the story of baseball by exhibiting the actual hall of fame, hosting a museum and archives, and sponsoring research into the history and development of the game over more than 150 years. The institution is located in Cooperstown, New York, a fairly isolated village at the southern end of Otsego Lake in central New York. Although the community has been bestowed the honor of having seen the birth of baseball, nobody actually knows where it got started. Nevertheless, the institute has become a mecca of sorts for baseball fans around the world. Part 2: Observation My visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame  occurred on April 9, 2021. Description This website contains information meant to educate would-be pilgrims to Cooperstown, but an extensive digital collection is accessible online that contains thousands of digital images of art, 3D memorabil

Part 1: Site Information I visited Kahn Academy, a non-profit site that provided free learning materials in math, science, computing, humanities, and test prep. The audience for this site is students, teachers, parents, and school districts. The educational materials offered on the site consist primarily of videos, with some reading material, and practice quizzes. The site is also being localized into more than sixty languages including Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and French. Part 2: Observation My visit to Kahn Academy occurred on March 31, 2021. Description This website featured dozens of courses in Math pre-K through college, physical and biological sciences, test prep, computing, arts and humanities, economics, reading and language arts through 9th grade (although the courses only included reading and vocabulary, with some grammar), and life skills including growth mindset. The major portion of the site was the learning materials, although there were significant portions dedica

Part 1: Site Information I chose to visit the website of Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital . This is a freestanding hospital completely dedicated to the care of children (pediatrics). In addition to direct medical care, the hospital organization also seeks to educate the community about health care topics in multiple disciplines to prevent illness or harm. My problem of practice has to do with international students' perceptions of a foreign educational system. The care of small patients and the support of their families while in crisis can relate since people in these situations are navigating a system they aren't accustomed to. Part 2: Observation My visit of the Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital occurred on March 24, 2021. Description The website featured links to the hospital's more than sixty specialties and over 800 providers. Links also pointed to a glossary of conditions and treatments, locations of its facilities, financial questions and s

Part 1: Site Information The site I visited is the website of the  Farmington, Utah Mathnasium Center . This Farmington center is one of over a thousand franchises that serve over 100,000 students in five continents with face-to-face math only instruction. Though the organization is a multinational company, the home page of the Farmington franchise does everything it can to feel local. It features a photo and bio of the center director, information about which local communities are served, and reviews from local parents. My problem of practice has to do with feedback, and I could see lots of evidence here through their promotional videos. Part 2: Observation This observation of the Farmington, Utah Mathnasium Center took place on March 16, 2021.  Description I saw a company trying to communicate to potential clients that they offer a service that compliments what local schools offer. They administer a diagnostic to each new student, create a customized plan for them, and then provide
